In the early 2000s, while exploring the USPS hiring process, we identified a major challenge: the Postal Battery Exam 473, a general aptitude test. Although the exam itself wasn’t overly difficult, nearly 80% of candidates failed. This high failure rate prompted a deeper investigation into why so many struggled.

After months of careful research and testing, it became clear that candidates who prepared in advance consistently outperformed others, especially on the exam. Those without preparation often spent excessive time trying to understand instructions and navigate the four sections of the test. In contrast, prepared candidates already knew what to expect and had practiced with simulated exams, giving them confidence and an edge.

This insight led to the creation of a targeted assistance program designed to give candidates a competitive advantage, helping them succeed and avoid being part of the 20% who fail the exam.

And that’s exactly what we achieved. We launched an online program that gives candidates instant access to valuable resources upon registration. The program is designed to guide applicants through every step of the USPS hiring process, allowing them to progress at their own pace. A key feature of the program is live assistance to answer any questions along the way, an invaluable resource, since the Postal Service does not provide support during the application and hiring process, leaving candidates to navigate it on their own.

In April 2019, the United States Postal Service updated its hiring exams by partnering with a third-party provider. The Postal Battery Exam 473, previously used for all entry-level positions, was replaced with four Virtual Entry Assessments tailored to specific job roles. These new assessments are designed to identify the most qualified candidates for each position.
